THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly is a graduate of North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's law practice is focused on family law. She has a love for it. She focuses her practice on divorce cases, alimony matters, marital property division and child custody battles as well as child support arrangements. She also handles post-divorce enforcement and post-divorce issues as well as step-parent adoptions, private adoptions for parties as and concerns regarding child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning matters, including probate, wills, trusts, and estate administration, in addition to commercial, contract, and civil litigation cases. Ashley has served a court-appointed mediator since 2019 helping parties to help them resolve their matters without need for litigation and court involvement. Ashley mediates private disputes and also court-appointed mediations for people who want to stay clear of litigation and court processes.

Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She continued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was placed among the top 10 students in her class. During her time at law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review and demonstrated her dedication to legal research and scholarship.

After completing her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship, working for distinguished jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was privileged to serve as a law assistant to the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. Subsequently, in 2014 she returned to her home town of Hagerstown to be a clerk for Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, expanding her knowledge of the local legal landscape. Learn more about Ashley Wilburn

In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. The primary role she played at the firm involved representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases concerning child welfare. Ashley's devoted efforts played a significant role in helping children who were victims of in the face of neglect or abuse at hands their parents or caregivers. Her dedication to fighting social injustice went beyond her legal profession as she served as an active member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She worked tirelessly to increase awareness about human trafficking within the tri-state region.

In 2017 she was a founding partner at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and developed her practice in family law - divorce, custody and child maintenance, as well as guardianships and estate and financial planning – wills, trusts, power of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy and mediation.

Ashley established Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023, with the goal of providing a personalized approach for every client's needs.
