THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly comes from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. With a deep passion for family law, Ashley's current legal practice revolves around various aspects of family-related matters. She focuses a majority of her practice on divorce cases, alimony disputes the distribution of marital property child custody battles child support arrangements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, enforcement and post-divorce issues including step-parent and private parties adoptions and concerns about child welfare. Ashley has served a court-appointed mediator since 2019, assisting parties in helping them resolve their matters without needing to litigate or court involvement. In addition to court-appointed mediation, Ashley also mediates in private matters for those who would like to avoid the litigation and court process.

After finishing her undergraduate education at Loyola University of Maryland, where she earned two Bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was ranked among the top 10 students in her class. While in law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review, showcasing her commitment to legal scholarship and research.

Following the completion of her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship program, working with distinguished jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate enough to serve as a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014, she returned home to Hagerstown Maryland to serve as an attorney for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. As an associate attorney. Her main responsibilities at the firm was representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters pertaining to child welfare. Ashley's tireless efforts contributed greatly to helping children who were victims of neglect or abuse at hands their parents or caregivers. Her dedication to social justice went beyond the realm of law as she was active as an officer of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force, which worked hard to educate the public about human trafficking in the tri-state region.

In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the area of family law including divorce, child support, custody, and guardianships - aswell as estate planning, wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directive/healthcare proxies - and mediation.

Ashley founded Wilburn Law Office, LLC, 2023, with the commitment to provide an individual approach to each client's need.
